Head Coach:  Marques Bravo

Assistant Coaches:  Garrett Adams, Mitch Burke

The wrestling coaches at Discovery Canyon believe that wrestling is a great opportunity for anyone to learn valuable life-long skills and build the proper attitude and positive attributes that lead to success. We believe it is a sport everyone should experience!

We emphasize teaching foundational wrestling skills, fundamental general athleticism, and most importantly, fostering a passion for wrestling. We believe that the biggest metric for success as a wrestler is that when you have completed your journey at DCC and competed in Thunder wrestling you will leave as a better person than you were before. Our goal as coaches is to not only help you grow as a wrestler but also to help guide you in your development of high personal character.

About Our Head Coach

Coach Bravo grew up in Fort Lupton, Colorado (same town as DCC Head Football Coach Mitchell) where he began wrestling when he was four. After graduating in 2004 from Fort Lupton High School, Coach Bravo attended Western State in Gunnison, Colorado to wrestle for the Mountaineers. Bravo wrestled for five seasons for Western State where he was a 4x NCAA DII National Qualifier and a two-time NCAA DII All-American. Bravo graduated in 2009 with a BA in History.

After graduating in 2009, Bravo married DCC Head Volleyball coach Melissa Bravo. Coach Bravo worked for Western State as a wrestling coach and alumni relations coordinator for three years. In the fall of 2012 Bravo began student teaching at DCC and in May of 2014 received his MA in Education from Western State. Coach Bravo spent the 2013-14 season at Falcon High School as a Social Studies teacher and Assistant wrestling coach. Bravo has been the head coach at DCC since 2016. Bravo and his wife Melissa have two daughters, Charlee and Andee.

Coach Bravo and the rest of the Thunder Wrestling staff’s vision for the program is to create gritty, hard-working, principled athletes and humans. Our basic goal is for athletes to be better prepared for life after going through our program.
