What To Expect

Summer Training Opportunities: please visit our Strength and Conditioning page.

Summer Strength & Conditioning this is our main pre-season training. Many of our girls play club volleyball in the Colorado Springs area and need a break or at least a reduction of time in the gym both mentally and physically so they are fresh and ready for the fall season. We want all of our girls training in the weight room to prevent injuries and increase their speed, strength and verticals, as well as preparing their bodies for the fall season. Coach Melendrez is not a PE teacher or a personal trainer, he is a certified Strength & Conditioning Coach from the NSCA. Please check out additional information in the link above.

Our varsity players are required to be in a Women’s Strength & Conditioning class, for sure in the fall but preferable in the fall and spring. All players are encouraged to be in a Women’s Strength & Conditioning class both semesters.

Queen’s typically on Wednesday nights, all summer long we do a queen of the beach style league. Come when you’re in town – if you miss for vacation, we understand, it is a flexible set up. There are 8 sessions, 2hrs. each June/July. Come get lots of touches, work on your volleyball IQ and compete with a new group each week! See the DCC Athletics page for details in the athletics announcements.

Fall Season

Pre-Season Camp: This is the week before tryouts and a free opportunity to understand the expectations for tryouts and season. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 5pm-7pm. Contact Coach Bravo for registration starting early July.

Tryouts: Tryouts are typically 4 days (Monday – Thursday) and times may split groups depending on position, number of players or grade of players at tryouts. Be sure to register for tryouts through the DCC Athletics page. You can also see up to date Athletic Announcements for volleyball and all sports there.

Schedule: DCC Volleyball participates in the Pikes Peak Athletic Conference, this is where the most up to date annual schedule can be found.

Off Season:

  • Get in a Woman’s Strength & Conditioning Class with Coach Melendrez.

  • Club volleyball opportunities around Colorado Springs (typically tryout in June for the winter/spring club season, if you missed tryouts contact clubs they often are looking for specific positions for different teams).
