What To Expect

  • Summer Training

  • Summer Strength & Conditioning is our main pre-season training. Many players compete in club volleyball and need a mental and physical break—or at least reduced gym time—so they are fresh for fall. We want every athlete training in the weight room to prevent injuries and build speed, strength, and vertical jump. Coach Melendrez, a certified Strength & Conditioning Coach (NSCA), leads the program.

Varsity players must enroll in a Women’s Strength & Conditioning class in the fall and are encouraged to take it both fall and spring semesters.

  • Contact Coach Bravo for spring and summer open gym opportunities.

Fall Season

  • Pre-Season Camp: Held the week before tryouts, pre-season camps help players understand expectations for tryouts and the season. Sessions run Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 5–7 p.m. Contact Coach Bravo to register starting in early July.

  • Tryouts are typically held over four days (Monday–Thursday). Times may vary by position, number of players, or grade level.

  • DCCHS Volleyball competes in the Pikes Peak Athletic Conference. Find the most current season schedule on the conference page.

Off Season

  • Enroll in a Women’s Strength & Conditioning class to build strength, prevent injuries, and prepare for next season.

  • Club teams around Colorado Springs usually hold tryouts in June for the winter/spring season. Contact clubs if you miss tryouts—many need players for specific positions.

  • Open gyms typically start one day a week after spring break. Incoming freshmen may join starting May 1
