Theatre, Improv and More
DCC HS Theatre produces two full main stage shows a year as well as being the only local HS with a student improv troupe that performs monthly throughout the school year. Cheap Date Improv competes at the state level and was one of only 7 troupes statewide to open for the Denver Improv Festival in October 2019. DCC Theatre’s awards include a State Championship for our production of The Addam’s Family in 2016 and National Championship for our one act Captive Audience in 2012. In addition, we are an internationally recognized high school theatre program having performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August of 2019.
Offerings
DCC offers Theatre 1, 2, 3 and 4, Improv 1 and 2, Technical Theatre 1 and 2 and IB Theatre for juniors and seniors at both the SL and HL levels. For those passionate about working with special needs students, Peer Performing Arts is an opportunity to engage in Theatre while supporting our SSN program. It is highly recommended that students interested in participating in extra-curricular theatre take classes to build rapport with their cohort as well as developing the skills needed to be successful in theatrical productions and improv.
