Discovery Canyon’s new 50,700 square foot edition includes 10 new classrooms and an innovative learning plaza with collaboration and creation space for students and staff. This innovative learning plaza boasts vibrant learning spaces for collaboration and interdisciplinary projects, as well as an attached “wet-room” multi purpose space. Students will have the opportunity to learn in a cutting- edge environment which metaphorically is best described as “Google meets Starbucks”. Flexible seating and technology integration throughout classrooms and in the 5th floor learning plaza encourages students to collaborate, create, critically think, and thrive.
The open and bright 5th floor innovative learning plaza will encourage collaboration and interdisciplinary projects. Small and large groups will use this space for exploration, creation, collaboration, and much more.
The “wet-room” multi-purpose space has endless possibilities. This space can be used as a showroom for science experiments and art projects. This space connects to the innovative learning plaza for easy transition between messy exploration and explanation. It truly will have endless possibilities as a “makerspace”!
On the Northeast Side of the new addition we will have 85 new parking spaces complete with ADA access to the building.
The new addition includes ample power sources for technology integrations and flexible furniture layouts that inspire students and teachers to create, collaborate, and amplify learning possibilities. Seating can be arranged and rearranged to meet individual and group needs.
The current lower high school library is being remodeled to include three classrooms and a community space. The pendulum will act as the focal point for this community space.
Our Discovery Canyon which is the outdoor focal point of our beautiful campus is being extended. Students will now have access to inside the canyon and to the athletic hallway from the east end of the building. This creates new opportunities for outdoor learning, community events, and improved student safety.
